Week 1 Practice information (June 22-June 26)
June 21, 2020
Dear Parents & Swimmers,
Attached is our schedule for this next week; we will update you with a more permanent schedule next Saturday as we finalize our roster after our trial week. As you can see we are packed! We have more swimmers than spaces available. We have placed swimmers that were registered as of noon on Friday, June 19, and showed up for our U10 assessment. If your swimmer is not listed below please know that we have placed them on a waitlist and are hoping to place them permanently as soon as possible. We have been working with our HOA and Splash Pools to extend our pool time in the hopes of meeting all of our swimmer’s requests in joining our team. This next week is our trial week, with fees being due on Friday at the latest. The fee is $75 dollars and your check needs to be made out to Willow Spring Swim Team (WSST) and given to a coach or Board Member. If you are not interested in swimming with us this year we understand, these are unprecedented times and we appreciate and value you as our friends and neighbors. If you decide not to participate this year, please email us back at [email protected] and update us on your change of interest. Our season will run for five weeks, ending on Friday, July 24th. We are not able to offer discounts for multiple swimmers in a family nor are we able to prorate due to vacations.
This year is lap swimming with an emphasis on stroke development. We know this feels different than previous years, and we are trying to provide opportunities to workout and have the summer “feel” normal. Please know that the swim team is not to replace lessons as there are necessary safety skills that we do not cover that lessons do. While we will not be playing games, competing,or riding on lane lines, the good news is Donut Friday is back in thanks to the generous support of Lamar Donuts on Boardwalk! Come prepared to work hard and develop technical skills.
Here is what you need to be prepared for: if there is an item that you are not able to prepare for please contact us as we will do our best to help you. If you have questions please email us at [email protected], coaches will be cleaning after each session so there will not be time to connect. Please know that we value your thoughts and will reply with an email or phone call.
- Swimmers should arrive 5 minutes before their practice time, and will need to remain outside the gates until called in by coaches. While waiting they will be asked these 4 questions if 12 and up: If you have a younger swimmer please use these questions as the guidelines to decide if your swimmer should participate each day.
- Have you been exposed to a known COVID case in the last 14 days?
- Do you have a fever?
- Do you have a cough, sore throat or shortness of breath?
- Do you feel well today?
- Swimmers will need to come to practice ready to go - caps (all girls should have caps on, as hair becomes an issue and distraction) and goggles on. No locker rooms, showering, or deck changing.
- Swimmers will come to practice with their protective mask/face covering on. There will be designated areas to put their face mask, towel, water bottle, and shoes while they swim. No other personal items and equipment will be allowed on deck. This is a requirement set forth by Larimer County and is mandatory for everyone on deck at all times.
- When swimmers arrive, they will be assigned a lane and they will be told which end of the pool to stand on.
- Locker rooms will remain locked. If swimmers need to use the bathroom, the coaches or another adult will unlock it for them. Please wash hands for 30 seconds after using the bathroom facilities.
- Parents are welcome to watch and socially distance outside the fence, and this will be REQUIRED for 8 and under swimmers for at least the first week. Parents/Coaches are required to wear a face covering at all times.
- Once practice has concluded, swimmers should depart practice immediately before the next group arrives.
- Families - we will need your help reminding your kids to SOCIALLY DISTANCE! No hugging, no pushing each other in the pool, no congregating after practice. It seems strict, but it is to ensure safety for all!
