Coach's Corner and Away meet this Satruday 6/26!
Coach’s Corner
We can’t believe we are already through week three! Time sure flies when you’re having fun. We are finally in a routine and kids seem to know what to expect each day. Below is a quick update about what’s been happening on the pool deck and in the water.
As we continue to work on streamline off every wall, we have added fast turns at every wall (walls are not rest breaks) and fast, powerful finishes. Swimmers are learning there is a difference between race pace and easy pace. Teaching kids how to race is a bit like learning test-taking skills. There are small things they can do to beat the competition.
Building endurance is still a large part of practice and swimmers are definitely improving in that area. They are all able to swim farther, faster and for longer. We can’t say enough about how excited we are at how much each of them has grown in such a short time!
Week four and five will continue to focus on adding backstroke, a legal breaststroke, and breaking down butterfly. Please look for videos about these strokes with techniques and drills that you can watch and do with your kids on your own at the pool. If you take your kids to the pool ask them to show you what they know and talk about things they could improve for a few minutes.

This Saturday will be our first away meet and the second meet in our season. It will be Saturday the 26th at the SCCA pool, 313 Tulane Drive Fort Collins, CO 80525. Our warm up time will be at 7:25 so please plan on arriving around 7am setting up in the grass and then getting ready to warm up. You will want sunscreen, drinking water, snacks, and towels to get you through our morning. We should be done at 12 or 12:30. Parents and swimmers will need to stay in the grassy area unless you are in the heating shed or your swimmer is on deck to race. Thank you to our volunteer families for helping this be a successful and fun meet.
Thank you to Andrew Otto for helping coach this last week. We truly enjoy working with your kids every day!
Sincerely
Coach Tamara & Coach Nicole
